I came across an interview with Joshua Foer who wrote the book, “Moonwalking with Einstein.” He talked about the “OK Plateau,” the place where after learning something new, you are on autopilot. It’s challenging to grow. It’s easy to bask in muscle memory. However, in order to become proficient or expert at a skill, you have to develop strategies to push beyond the “OK Plateau.” Sometimes you must back to the beginning and focus on the difficult stuff you glossed over. Sometimes you must be deliberate and constantly provide yourself with new milestones to reach. As Joshua Foer says, “The way to get better at a skill is to force yourself to practice beyond your limits.” What are your limits? How can you push beyond to realize your full potential? #WednesdayWisdom
